Pegasus Legal Funding is a proud member of the American Legal Finance Association (ALFA). ALFA is comprised of thirty-one companies nationwide, which provide non-recourse funds to personal injury victims who have filed a claim or a lawsuit. ALFA was created to establish industry standards and awareness for the legal funding industry.
One of ALFA’s first projects was to create industry standards regarding transparency in transactions and clear disclosure to consumers. ALFA requires its members to obtain written acknowledgement from the client’s attorney before funding the client’s case. This gives the client the added protection of having an attorney review their contract before they are legally bound by the contract. Further, ALFA members are not allowed to interfere with the client’s litigation. ALFA members only provide funding. Then, the funding company lets the client and his attorney work to resolve the case.
Also, ALFA requires funding company members to limit the funding in a case to the amount needed by the client in order to protect the client’s net settlement amount. Further, ALFA members are not allowed to advertise false or intentionally misleading information.
ALFA works hard to ensure its members have the highest ethical standards and fair business practices. Pegasus Legal Funding is proud to be a member of ALFA and works hard to uphold the high standards ALFA sets.
